What I’m Doing -Vote today!

Time to vote!

Vote! I choose to keep my political discussions off of social media. I prefer to have face to face conversations so you will never hear me telling to vote for this or that online.  However, I will take this opportunity to remind you to open that envelope that you received in the mail recently and get out that voters guide, sit down for 15 min or so and VOTE! You’re voice matters and the only way it will count is if you take the time to fill in those boxes and vote! Time is running out the election is next Tuesday. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to vote, don’t let it go to waste.

Writing the November issue of SFP News – I created the newsletter to serve those who are not on social media. I had several clients say they had missed out on a sale or announcement because they aren’t on FB or IG. I also don’t like all of the rule changes those forums like to throw out. So the monthly newsletter was born. Now those on my email list receive their information directly to their email box and before I release the information on social media. I am committed to keeping it informative and interesting and I promise I won’t spam you all month. Only once a month and on a very rare occasion when I have something really spectacular to share.  Click here if you’d like to join the SFP Newsletter team http://madmimi.com/signups/f92831e48f4c4758a38ad3779e2d9f9b/join

Holiday Mini Sessions – Designing the set, working on the sign up link. More about that below.

Photographing – Lots of photographing I’m so thankful!

What I’m Photographing

The Porter Family

SFP Fall Family Session - Vote

I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it. I am thrilled with every opportunity I have to return to clients I have photographed before. I love knowing my clients and being able to relax and just really enjoy ourselves during a shoot. Rob and Heather are much more than clients to me they have been our friends for many years. In fact Rob’s brother Ron was a classmate of mine in high school. So needless to say, I really enjoyed this shoot! Our smiles and laughter were needed to keep us warm on this beautiful but very chilly day!

Seniors –

Wyett, Class of 2021

Wyett goes to school in Woodland and plans on attending Eastern Oregon University next year to earn an elementary education degree. We had fun talking about teaching and our various bear stories.

Carson, Class of 2021

Vote for Shelly Fry Photography

I have photographed Carson along with his family and few years back I did his big brother’s Senior session. I have been looking forward to seeing Carson and his mom ever since they booked his session a few months ago. We had a lot of fun exploring Moulton Falls areas and grabbed some awesome shots! (the tracks pictured are not in use).

I also did team and head shots for JW Architects here in Battle Ground. A really nice group of people located in Battle Ground Village. They have an awesome upstairs balcony area which was a perfect location for their head shots.

What I’m Reading- The Jane Austen Society by Natalie JennerVote book Club

Book Club met last night and I didn’t finish the book (I will, I’m oh so close!) In the many years I have been in book club I can only remember one other time I didn’t finish a book. It’s disappointing and rewarding. I’m disappointed because I’m such a deadline keeper and I’m rewarded because I still get to hear how it ends if I don’t have the opportunity to finish it ( but I will!).

Here are my thoughts regarding what I have read (I only have 50 pages left!)

As I read this book I was frustrated that I hadn’t read any Jane Austen. I think this is a book that would be best enjoyed by someone who had at the very least read Pride and Prejudice and Emma (all of which are frequently referred to in the book) .
I knew these would all be books I would want to read so when I ordered this months book club choice I picked up the above mentioned books as well as Sens and Sensibility. The movie Pride and Prejudice was very good, but that is all of the background I have regarding Jane Austen.

So I read the book feeling like I was outside of a club I would like to be part of. The book follows 5 main characters who each, and in their own unique way, have a sincere love for Jane Austen. They come together for a mutual cause (essentially forming a club). There are constant references to Austen’s books and how each character is applying it to his or her life and it’s clear the author is trying to write her own Jane Austen book within the characters of this book. I do think it’s a good book and while it’s not necessary I do recommend reading other Jane Austen books first.  I think having a deeper knowledge of Austen and her books would make this book even better for the reader.

The next big agenda item on my calendar is Holiday Mini Sessions. I will be announcing them first to my newsletter subscribers. I have been working on the set design. The biggest change is that I won’t be using my rustic wood backdrop this year. We are going with a white/green theme (red accents). I am really excited about it. I will be releasing the mini sign ups to the rest of the world on next weeks blog.

Here is a sneak peek of what I have so far. In addition to what you see here I will be adding a small tree to the side and gifts wrapped in brown paper with green bows. Of course the real beauty comes with your family in the middle of it all!

Here is a link to last years Holiday Mini session blog post. We have so much fun during these sessions and I always get the pictures back to you within the week so you have plenty of time to make those holiday cards.
