Holiday Mini Session 2020 – Shelly Fry Photography

Holiday Mini Sessions 2020 at SFP – November 22nd

Hello!

Yes, it’s time to book your Holiday Mini Sessions at SFP!! This year I have switched things up and we are going with a white back drop with green and red accents. I am loving it and I think you will too! The plan is to add a small tree to the side and some green bows. But honestly what you will notice the most about these pictures will be the beautiful people filling the set! This will be our 4th Holiday Mini sessions at the studio. Always super popular, I have added 2 more spots to the schedule.

Holiday Mini Sessions

Mini sessions are fast paced and super fun. The images are commonly used on holiday cards and make awesome gifts. Think of any fun combination you can. Grab the Grandparents and have their pictures taken with the grandkids. Maybe a cousin group? How about all the adult siblings getting together to recreate a favorite picture from days gone by? As always your pup is welcome to join the fun. Wanna be fancy? Dress up! Wanna be casual? Wear some fun Holiday jammies or your favorite ugly sweater! Flannels, boots, wrap up in a favorite blanket, the ideas are unlimited! Let’s be creative and have fun!

In addition I will get your images delivered to your inbox within 48 hours of your shoot! Leaving you with plenty of time to get those cards and gifts ordered.

What I’m Photographing

I now have shorter days to work with and things are slowing down a bit around here. While I’m still happy to shoot during the week (if your schedule allows it) most of my sessions will be limited to Sundays this month. I started off the month with Rebecca on a beautiful, sunny morning at Ft. Vancouver.  Her parents have family in South American and Spain and are excited to send them some beautiful portraits of Rebecca in her first communion dress.  After we took the more formal portraits she quickly changed into something a little more her style.  One thing I learned about Rebecca is she loves to climb trees!

~~~Availability – There are 2 available Sundays this month. I have this coming Sunday (forecast is for sunshine!) and next Sunday the 15th~~~
The Unexpected
Three mornings in a row this week I have been woken up in the wee hours of the morning. Monday and Tuesday between 3 and 4am I was greeted with the sounds of Lucy throwing up. That get’s you moving fast! Tuesday night I went to bed hoping Lucy wouldn’t wake us up again. Wednesday morning at 4am we woke up to very loud noises coming from outside. Jeff got up and saw an orange/red sky outside the bathroom window and told me something was on fire. Our neighbors horse barn was fully engulfed by the time we had shoes on and were standing in our back yard. The fire was massive and there were embers flying in the air.
There were no emergency vehicles. Jeff quickly called 911 who already knew about it and said it was a barn fire. After a few minutes of watching the fire blaze we finally heard sirens in the distance. I have heard that the horses were all saved and I’m so thankful it was a barn and not a house! I’m also really thankful this happened after we had rain or I believe this would have been an even bigger fire.  Scary stuff!
I’m happy to say nothing woke me up this morning….
What I’m Reading
Holiday Mini Session
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman
I’m loving this book! Backman has written several books. The first one of his that I read was A Man Called Ove which I loved! 5 stars go read it! The next one I read was Beartown and I didn’t like it. It was dark and depressing and I knew something bad was going to happen from the beginning and it just hangs over your head the entire time. Then I skipped the next book I heard about Britt-Marie Was Here. However, I am so glad I picked this one up. I find his writing style quirky and refreshing. I’m constantly surprised by developments and entertained by his description of the characters and how he makes connections.
Here is how the book flap describes it “A poignant, charming novel about a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined.” I just think it’s clever and highly entertaining – go read it!
5 stars
What’s Next –
I am catching up on my editing. I’m proud of how quickly I’ve been able to get people their images. Most galleries have been delivered within a week of the session. I also always post sneak peeks the day of the shoot. Giving some immediate feedback as well as quick turnaround times is important to me and something I will continue to do.
I’m starting to think about the holidays and frankly it’s hurting my brain a bit! I am just so happy into Fall I’m struggling with the transition! But this next week Christmas decorations will go up in the studio (not at home until AFTER Thanksgiving!)
Holiday Mini Sessions
Dougan Falls on the Washougal River
Jeff and I did some spontaneous exploring last weekend. I had never been to Dougan Falls up the Washougal River but I had heard about it. We had the place to ourselves but I imagine on a hot Summer day the place is packed! I hope to do some more exploring this weekend.
