I’m just hopping along – Shelly Fry Photography

What I’m Doing

Counting down the days! I am halfway 2 weeks down, 2 weeks to go! Last week the Dr. surprised me by putting on a cast. I haven’t ever had a cast before and the biggest surprise was how claustrophobic it made me! Thankfully, I have adjusted. I was surprised at how many colors I could choose! It was like picking out a polish color at the nail salon! My first week I picked a teal blue in honor of my business colors. Yesterday they cut off the first cast, took more x-rays and then put on a new cast. I stuck with the blue but I now have a red accent.

A knee scooter is my choice of transportation around the house. Crutches are no fun and I am so clumsy! Of course, the knee scooter is no joy either. I spend most of my time backing up and making 30 point turns as I try to maneuver. The toes on my right foot are all bruised because I keep running over them! I can’t believe I have not taken a single step with my left foot for two weeks now! It’s exhausting and so limiting! I can’t get too upset. I know I will get the use of my foot back. I’m just impatient!

I’ve been very blessed with visits from friends. A few have even pushed me around the neighborhood in my wheelchair! Life is very exciting! This week I ventured out and went grocery shopping. As I drive the carts around at various places I’ve decided Costco is the slowest, Winco is a bit faster and FM wins. However, they are all still way too slow!!!!!!!!!!

I watched Hamilton again and I’m plowing through the biography.

Shelly Fry PhotographyWhat I’m learning

Casts get VERY HOT when you sit in the sun.

While I appreciate my husband and friends who are helping me so much it is so hard to be so limited! I was determined to make dinner the other night. As I fluctuated between my knee scooter and hopping on one leg, I was exhausted and grouchy and gave up before I finished!

While I do have a degree in history there is still so much to learn! Reading the Hamilton bio I am learning a lot!

My first phone was an iPhone. My sons pushed me into getting an android several years ago so I made the switch. It was fine but I decided I wanted to switch back. So last week I bought an new iPhone and watch. UGH!! I have a strong love/hate relationship with technology!

MY biggest struggle is trying to figure out how to get pictures from my PC to my iPhone. Naturally I went to YouTube and found a tutorial followed all the steps and while I can get my pictures from my phone to my computer it isn’t working the other way around! I need this ability to share sneak peeks. Of course, after following the steps EXACTLY it didn’t work! So after several more hours of frustrating attempts I believe I have finally figured it out!

What I’m looking forward to

This week Jeff’s brother and his wife are flew in from Alabama for a visit. We haven’t seen them in a very long time!

Saturday morning Joshua and Jocelyn are flying in for a wedding and will be with us for a few days.

The day the cast comes off and I graduate to a walking boot!Falling – I’ve had two falls so far. The Dr. informed me that is why I have a cast….

Book Club – American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins

Book Club

While I won’t have any book updates for awhile (I have to finish Hamilton) we did meet this week.

This months book was American Dirt (read my previous review here https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/life-shelly-fry-photography ) The minute I read the book I knew it would be my book club choice.

Last night as we sat around discussing this book we all agreed this book opened our eyes to an experience none of us can relate to. We all valued that aspect of this heart wrenching novel.  If you haven’t read it I highly recommend this book!

Have you read this book? What did you think?

I always appreciate each one of you that stops by the blog. I read all of your comments and look forward to any thoughts, feedback or suggestions you have.
