Family – Feeling Thankful

Family

In the past week we have been blessed with so many visits from family. We’ve seen Grammy and Jeff’s brothers and Josh and Jocelyn were here for a wedding. We shared food, played games, watched movies, visited and had lots of laughs. It has been very good for the soul!

Fusion Update

I am holding my breath for tomorrow. I may be able to get my cast off and graduate to a boot. I have been holding my breath all week. I won’t know for sure until tomorrow (Dr. may have been called to jury duty AND the x-ray has to show I have healed enough).

I can’t explain how terribly excited I am with the thought of being given the luxury of walking!!! If it doesn’t happen tomorrow (I will be very put out) my next opportunity is next Wed.

My second cast didn’t work out and I had to go back and get a third cast put on.

I can see and feel my calf muscles atrophying and the leg hairs growing. Things are not gonna be pretty when this cast comes off!

Other than how exhausting it is to move around, how hot a cast is in the summer and cramps in my foot as well as my calf, I’m not experiencing any pain from the surgery. I’m very anxious to try my first steps.

What I’m Photographing

With our without a cast I am attempting a family shoot on Sunday. When your adult children are only around for a couple of days that is when the photo session has to happen! I am looking forward to this shoot!

I am very anxious to get back to my normal life!

What I’m Reading

book club

I AM DONE!!!

I finished all 731 pages of Hamilton. It’s a beast of a book jammed packed with a dizzying array of history. It is well written but if you don’t love history this is not for you. Also, having a strong background in history will help you get through this book.

Some key points

  • Political backstabbing is nothing new
  • A press that lies to serve their agenda is nothing new
  • Politicians having affairs and misbehaving is nothing new
  • Alexander Hamilton was amazing (faults and all) and its a good thing he was around at that time.

I was strangely comforted by the parallels to current events I saw in this book. There was even an outbreak of Yellow Fever during this time. I guess it made me feel better knowing what we are experiencing has been survived by those who have gone before us. Politics, media and disease.

Overall, it’s an excellent history lesson which includes all of the interesting personality quirks along with the political accomplishments.
