Yuros Family + Camper + Pup = adorable – Shelly Fry Photography

Last week I had the joy of having my cast removed which gave me the freedom to move, which I needed for this amazing family session!

Yuros Family + Camper + Pup

I love it when my clients include details in their shoots. Details like fun campers and sweet pups named Rusty.

Randy and Nita restored this adorable camper and wanted to include it in their family session. I’m so glad they did flamingos and all. Rusty the pup, was such a good boy posing like a pro in the photos!

However, the most important part of these photos are the people in them. Randy and Nita’s kids are all grown up and living out of town so this was a rare and precious opportunity to all be together. I’m so happy we were able to capture some beautiful images of them.

Also, Randy and Nita are celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary! Happy Anniversary to you guys! Your kind and generous hearts have been a blessing to so many!

As we continue to navigate uncertain times its really important for our mental health to celebrate our blessings. With some effort and creativity we can still celebrate the positives of our lives in a safe manner.  Find the joy in today. It’s important for you!

What I’m Reading

Well since accomplishing Alexander Hamilton’s Bio I have chosen some lighter reading.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

I picked this book up at Costco. I thought it would be an interesting light Summer read, and it is. It’s a murder mystery which has a couple twists that were interesting. I don’t generally read murder mysteries so I wasn’t really in the mindset of trying to figure stuff out I was just along for the ride. There is quite a bit of language in it as well so that is a bit of a negative for me.  However, if you like murder mysteries and light reads you may really enjoy this one.

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

Oh my goodness I can’t even explain why I love this book! I love the writing style and I don’t even know how to describe it other than clever and engaging. I really, really like the author’s way of writing characters.  There are very few books that while reading it, I’ve thought “I will read this again someday”. This is one of those books. I will definitely be looking for more books written by her (Great House, Man Walks Into a Room, and Forest Dark).

This is how the back cover reads “Leo Gursky taps his radiator each evening to let his upstairs neighbor know he’s still alive. But it wasn’t always like this: in the Polish village of his youth, he fell in love and wrote a book…Sixty years later and half a world away, fourteen-year-old Alma, who was named after a character in that book, undertakes an adventure to find her namesake and save her family.”

The author is very clever how these stories intersect and come together in the end.

Cast is Off

I now have the luxury of standing up in the shower and “walking”.

I am very encouraged with my progress at this point. That does not mean, however, that I’m not still very impatient to go for a walk. Also, while I’m very thankful to be rid of that hot cast, this boot is also very hot.  I do enjoy the luxury of sitting down and taking the boot off and cooling off! Tomorrow marks 1 week in the boot which means I will only have 3 more! When I do take steps with bare feet I’m encouraged that there really isn’t any pain. Just stiffness and swollen. Of course I’m not waking properly on it at this point because I’m terrified of screwing up the surgery. Lots of hope that by the end of August I will be walking normally and in a shoe pain free!

The absolute best part of being weight bearing is that I can work! I will admit to being nervous before Sunday’s shoot but I did really well and thanks to Jeff’s help, I didn’t fall over a single time!

SFP News

Despite not being able to walk for most of this month I’m a bit shocked that August arrives at the end of this week! With the arrival of August the next issue of SFP News arrives in inboxes. Once a month I send out a newsletter that includes what is happening in my life and the life of SFP. In my original plans for 2020 we would of had a 3 year celebration at the studio. It shocks me that I have been on Main St. BG for 3 years now! I’m sad that we didn’t get to celebrate it this year but there is always next year.   Last months edition included my Fall availability and I will post any sales or offerings that are happening in the newsletter first. If you are interested in signing up here is a link http://madmimi.com/signups/f92831e48f4c4758a38ad3779e2d9f9b/join  Give it a try for a month or two.

Technical Difficulties

Today my email (info@shellyfryphotography.com) is down which is super frustrating! I had a Senior Session inquiry yesterday that I responded to right away and now I don’t know if they have received it and the company I get my business email through is “aware and working on the problem”. This just makes me so nervous. I pride myself on quick consistent communication and the thought of someone thinking I’m ignoring them kills me!  So if you need me or would like to talk about a Session please call or text me at 360-798-2983.

Find the positives in this day friends!
