What I’m Doing – Boise, Idaho
Playing catch up after a holiday weekend in Boise with our oldest son Joshua.
Joshua took great care of us and kept us going from the minute we got there until we left Monday afternoon. We had a blast riding scooters in downtown Boise. I had wanted to rent scooters in PDX. It always looked like so much fun but I hadn’t gotten around to it. So I checked that off my to-do list!
We also rented bikes the next day. Boise is a haven for riders! Miles and miles of trails and wide streets with gorgeous bike lanes! We had fun exploring on our cruisers especially as we rolled up for a taco break. In addition to being very biker friendly, the also have amazing food options! Oh my goodness. All we did was exercise and eat which is a good thing!
Hiking in the hills above Boise was beautiful even though we got caught in a pretty intense rain storm. We made some wonderful memories and we were very happy Jocelyn was there to share the weekend with us!
What I’m Photographing –
I didn’t have any sessions last week so I worked hard on editing and delivering galleries! I have 2 sessions back to back this weekend that I am looking forward to.
My big girl camera didn’t go with me to Boise! I’ve just been snapping away on my phone. I am super excited about my sessions this weekend! One is of a family with a pregnant momma who was a former student of mine! Their family is about to grow from 5 to 6!
This is them almost 2 years ago. 🙂
Then I get to photograph a family who will be gathering to celebrate 50 years of marriage!
Goal Check –
So, last month in SFP News 3rd Edition https://madmimi.com/p/59c17e/preview I discussed how empowering goals are to me. And they are. However, that does not mean by any stretch that I always achieve my goals. Several weeks ago in my blog https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/pro-photography-shelly-fry-photography-vancouver-wa-battle-ground-wa I made the grand statement that I was giving up sugar. All I can say it’s a good thing I’m not addicted to drugs or needing to give up cigarettes because man I’m bad at this!!
Who am I kidding? I’m not giving sugar up! However, I have DRASTICALLY (really, truly) reduced how much I’m consuming. So a fail and a small win….
Notice in the background of the scooter picture is a sign that reads “Chip” Our Son introduced us to this amazing shop. With the biggest yummiest chocolate chip cookies! And yes, I ate my entire cookie in one setting and then scooted away happily on my scooter.
My {Current} Favorite –
One year ago we were gearing up for a huge graduation weekend. Both of our sons were graduating! It was an amazing and emotional experience to watch them both receive their diplomas. Now a year later we get to see them both working in their chosen careers. That just may be better than watching them graduate. I am thankful beyond measure that they are both healthy and employed and happy with their chosen professions. It makes this mom’s heart very full!
What I’m Reading –
Beneath the Scarlet Sky – by Mark Sullivan
I get annoyed by how many books regarding WWII I read. The fact is it is a fascinating piece of history with so many different perspectives and stories I could just read on that one, very broad topic, for the rest of my life. Lately, I have been purposefully avoiding WWII themed books. This is one of them however, and I’m loving it. I will go into more detail in my newsletter.
Educated – by Tara Westover – Is this months Book Club choice. I read this book last year and LOVED it!
Every once in awhile the book choice is one I’ve read. While it’s disappointing in some ways, its always great to have the opportunity to discuss a great book and I can spend this next month just reading the books on my “to read” shelf.
I hope your week is going well and flying by! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by!
