Happy Thursday Friends!
Many of you follow along on social media and you know that my sweet Lucy was sick last weekend. I woke up Friday morning to two disgusting piles of vomit next to the bed. One on my throw pillow… This of course concerned us but not wanting to over-react and noticing that she ate normally and was fine on her morning walk we cleaned it up and went about our day.
I left for a few hours. Came back quickly grabbed Lucy and headed off to WSU for our long walk. Her energy was normal and all seemed well. She was dirty from our walk so when we got home I put her in the backyard and then went into our room to change. That is where I discovered two more piles of vomit ON OUR BED. 😯
Time to Call the Vet –
So…I called the vet and explained what was going on. I had some fancy, healthy canned dog food from the last time she got sick (eating out of the cat box – dogs are gross) and I was advised to give her a small serving of that and see what happens. Lucy hadn’t kept a meal down since Thursday’s breakfast and it was now Friday afternoon. So I followed the instructions and fed her a small serving.
I had stripped the bed, thrown away the throw pillow and our electric blanket…. and was putting some extra effort in the earlier stains when Lucy vomited again. It just breaks my heart because she is so apologetic about it. As I turned my attention to the new mess, she did it again about 2 feet away and then walked over and vomited a 3rd time on the rag I had to clean the mess up with…
Flashbacks to having kids who did this to me –
By now I’m very concerned about her and called the vet and my husband.
Lucy was dehydrated and needed an IV. X-ray’s showed signs of a blockage and at one point we were told she would need to have exploratory surgery. I received this message while driving to a shoot and burst into tears. I had to leave Jeff at the vet with Lucy because I had a family session in Washougal. Thankfully the vet was willing to take things slow and we agreed to several more x-rays and by Sat afternoon Lucy was finally in the clear.
Oh my goodness!!! So stressf_ul but so thankful that she is OK and that surgery wasn’t necessary. Lucy is improving but seems to have lost her appetite. I’m hoping its just because she’s ticked that we are no longer giving her fresh chicken and has launched some sort of hunger strike. She did have to say goodbye to a few of her favorite toys. We believe the issue was strings she had ingested from them.

Goal Check – Class of 2020
Hello Class of 202 I’m looking for you! I am now booking the Class of 2020. The excitement is real for these upcoming Seniors. I am really excited because I have booked 4 seniors just this week. One even wants to include her horse and shoot on the Oregon Coast! Which is the beauty of living in the Northwest. We have so many stunning options to choose from! My goal for the next two months is to fill my schedule up with lots of Senior sessions. There is room for local shots as well as a handful Adventure sessions that could include Adventurous locations like the Gorge, Beach, Mountains or anything you have to suggest.
What I’m Photographing – Amazing People!
The weather in the Northwest can be unpredictable. However, right now it is perfect and my clients are amazing so I couldn’t be happier! I had two amazing family sessions last weekend.
My first session was at Cottonwood Beach which I had never been to before. I ALWAYS scout locations before shooting them but I just didn’t have the time. I was relieved when it turned out to be perfect! So bonus for getting to explore a new area and it working beautifully for our family session.
My next weekend session was an extended family session. Norm and Linda were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by their adult children, their spouses and children. Such a beautiful family! We did their photo session at WSU on a bright and sunny afternoon. Such a fun energetic family! Love them!
What I’m Reading –
I finished and HIGHLY recommend Beneath the Scarlet Sky. I give my full review in my June edition of SFP News https://madmimi.com/p/59c17e/preview.
After finishing a really good book it is a challenge for me to pick the next one. I just need a day or two to savor what I just read. However, going a day or two without a book to read is also challenging for me…
Right now I’m deciding between – Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks or My Own Words by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I am always looking for book recommendations so if you have any send them my way!
My {Current} Favorite Thing

Thanks for stopping by. Get ready next week for lots of sun! Let me know if you want a ride in the Jeep!
