What I’m Doing
I had a blast when 13 Battle Ground School photography students visited my studio last Tuesday.
They are taking various photography classes and wanted a field trip to visit a “Professional Photographer”. There are times I miss being in the classroom with students so I was in my element. They each brought their own camera and we were able to practice with some studio lighting, posing and then moved to some outside work. Of course Lucy got in on the workshop. She happily posed and the kids loved her.
What I’m Photographing
Hooray for Grad Sessions. I absolutely love the opportunity to work with someone one, on one during a shoot! We had perfect weather and shooting downtown PDX is one of my favorite locations!
As a photographer one of my most important jobs is to get my clients to relax and be natural in front of my camera. When I asked Nick how he felt about being photographed he said “Great” and it totally showed. We walked around the Pearl District and found various backgrounds to use in his shots.
Mom and Dad came along so we had a nice time chatting and getting to know this family. I’m looking forward to a family session with them later this year.
My {Current} Favorite
AMAZING RACE IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you watched this show? I absolutely love it and yes I have thought many times how amazing it would be to compete! But I’m way too big a chicken to ever follow through and actually apply to be on the show. So I live vicariously through those I’m watching on the screen.
I have to say I’m not a fan when they select the team members from previous races or other reality shows as they have done this season. I much prefer when they just find regular people {like me}. Oh well, at least the show is back! The first two episodes have been exciting. If you haven’t watched it and you love travel and challenges this is the show for you! Wednesday nights CBS 8pm.
Tulips!!! Oh I wish Tulip season would last longer… I am soaking them in all I can right now!
What I’m Reading
I told you last week I had given up on Brysons’ book “The road to Little Dribbling”. I switched gears and began reading “The Island of Sea Women” By Lisa See – This is a completely different topic than what I have ever read before. I have only just begun and the first thing I notice is my struggle with the Korean and Japanese names and vocabulary. Hopefully my brain will adapt and the reading will go smoother. I will share more on my thoughts on this book next week.
Goal Check
I did it! I finally wrote out my goals list for the month of April. Better late then never! I am focusing on getting my body back to the level of activity I’m use to. I am also focused on moving forward with my business goals.
Having the class visit my studio fit perfectly with my goal to reach out to the community more. I have also attended one other networking event this month.
I am gearing up for the second edition of SFP News. I’m still welcoming any feedback you may have regarding the first issue as well as what you would like to see in a monthly newsletter from SFP. Saying No to Sugar –
I have also decided to really try and kick the sugar habit. To be perfectly clear I have attempted this about 4xs since last August. Each time I have some measure of success and I really do notice less aches and pains in my body. I am easily derailed however but I have decided to treat myself gently and just keep going. Also, what I mean by avoiding sugar is just basically desserts. I tend to lose control when faced with a plate of homemade cookies or I think I need dessert after lunch and supper every day.
Yesterday I provided donut holes for the students and a few found their way into my mouth…. so that broke my streak. But I’m back on track today. I beg you don’t come near me with a maple bar!!!
I also want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU! To those of you who took the time to vote for me and put up with my constant reminders to please vote for Best of Clark County and Readers Choice. I am thrilled to be nominated and that wouldn’t have happened without you! Now we just wait…the results won’t come out until mid June but I will certainly let you know!
Keep on believing in yourself friends!
