Longer Days
While it’s always brutal to lose that hour of sleep. I am so glad to have longer days! That extra daylight helps us enjoy all the signs of Spring. The Daffodils and trees are blooming and I have begun to purchase items to fill my garden boxes! To me it seems like Fall was a really long time ago! Maybe that’s because so much in my life has changed during this past Winter! I don’t even know what our new yard looks like with leaves!
As a photographer I always breath easier once Spring rolls around. I have survived another cold, dark winter! Of course having a larger studio to work with during those dark months certainly helps! But with Spring fixing to burst forth I can’t wait to book those outdoor Family and Senior sessions!
Ironically this year I have done at least one Senior session every single month! While I definitely have a bump of Seniors in both the Spring and Fall this year they have been sprinkled throughout the calendar.
Ethan Class of 2022
Tuxedos, casual, swords it’s all about capturing this amazing time in your life! Recently someone reached out to me about booking a Senior Session. She commented on Meredith’s Session (click here to see it https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/studio-sessions-shelly-fry-photography ) She said she loved Meredith’s pictures but doesn’t love Portland for a location. I assured her that PDX was chosen by Meredith and that I always match my Seniors to locations that fit their personalities. If your Senior is a country person it just wouldn’t make sense to have their pictures taken in the middle of a city! Is your Senior passionate about rock climbing, skiing, hiking, reading, cooking, you name it! I love tailoring a Senior Session to the person!
I have two new locations that I am dying to shoot at! Once is perfect for Spring and the other has beautiful trees, fields, water and a cool train trestle! I’m just waiting for the right clients! Is it you?
But this should be about Ethan! We squeezed him in on a sunny Friday! He wore something for mom and wore something for himself! He really got excited when the sword came out! I love it when Seniors incorporate whatever they are passionate about! I often have mom’s reach out to me about their reluctant Seniors. More often than not its a guy, who really doesn’t want to have his picture taken! Moms have the hard part which is getting them to show up! But once I’m with them I’m happy to take over. I know my job is to get them to relax and enjoy the experience. And you know what? They always do!
Head Shots in the Studio
Each week I receive phone calls from people asking about scheduling head shots. There are lots of reasons why people need headshots. Last week someone came in because they needed a professional picture for a medial school application. I also had a call from a business in Alaska who has an employee here and needed a headshot for her. A few months ago a Law firm in California asked if I could photograph one of their lawyers located in this area.
Head shots are painless! I promise! They are around 20 min. I have several backdrops as well as natural light options. I have a dressing room if you’d like to change for a few different looks or just stick with one! It’s your choice.
I have found it a great way to meet lots of different people!
Cap and Gown Sessions for the Class of 2022
Oh man graduation is close!! I have a niece graduating from HS this year and I know that Senioritis is kicking in! Here is something to consider as you plan for this very special time.
- For those who have had a Senior Session with me this year (Class of 2022) and would like a cap and gown session those are available this Spring! You can do an outdoor location or a studio session with your cap and gown for $150. These are 15-20 min sessions and include 3 images, with the option to purchase more if you’d like. You can include a pet, a bestie or just the grad all by themselves.
- If you just haven’t had the chance to have a Senior Session and would still like one, Spring is a great time to do that! I am currently booking April – May. Reach out ASAP and let’s get you booked! If you’d like some Spring inspiration click here for last years post where I suggest some awesome locations! https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/best-spring-locations-shelly-fry-photography
- If you haven’t had a Senior Session with SFP and would like a cap and gown session that is also an option! The regular price is $250 which also includes 3 images. These sessions are closer to 30 min.
4. But wait there is more! Would you like a photographer to come to the graduation? Every year I am booked by families who would like someone else to worry about the graduation pictures. I will take pictures of the grad with family, friends and during the ceremony. Contact me directly for availability and pricing. I will only book a limited amount per graduation to make sure I can do a fantastic job for each family.
OK – That’s it for this week! Thanks for stopping by!
