Best Spring Locations
Yes, it’s the time when I start getting really excited about Spring and start thinking about Spring locations for my outdoor portrait sessions. Look outside, what do you see? I see bare trees, soggy grass, waterlogged flower beds. But, if I look closer, I see signs of Spring. There are buds forming on those bare branches, bulbs pushing up through the soggy ground. If you look close enough you can see it – The Promise of Spring!
The Promise of Spring!
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year to photograph! Spring is coming. Have you noticed the buds forming on the plants outside? Spring will be here very soon! Spring is one of my favorite times of the year to photograph! Cherry blossoms covering the ground and bursting open in gorgeous clusters make the best backdrops! Wisteria hanging from trees or trellises, Lilacs and their amazing scent filling the air. Azaleas creating stunning walls of color. The lush green of the grass it all just makes me giddy inside!!
Top Picks – Spring Locations
Ft. Vancouver -The cherry blossoms in this area are abundant!
Several older neighborhoods in PDX with larger and older cherry trees – I have walked down streets where the blossoms are several inches thick on the ground. The clusters on the trees are bigger than a man’s fist! Combine the vibrant colors of the spring blooms with historic neighborhoods and parks and you have some terrific backdrops for your portrait session.
Camas Lily Fields – This family chose Mother’s Day for their session and the Camas Lily field was in full bloom. Have you ever wanted to be photographed in a massive field of flowers?
Star Mountain and Columbia River Gorge – These locations are for those with a more adventurous spirit. I have a Jeep that will get us to the challenging locations like Star Mountain. Some would require hiking but the views! The flowers! There are so many amazing locations for wild flowers! Dog Mountain, Rowena Point, Coyote Wall to name just a few of the many stunning locations we have to pick from.
Hulda Klager – Lilac Garden‘s in Woodland Washington – I haven’t done a shoot here yet. Sadly, I was booked for one last year but you know how that went. So I am still looking forward to the opportunity to photograph a Senior or family in this gorgeous location. Usually peeking in May this property has a Victorian style house, red barn, windmill and gorgeous Lilacs. It also has a fabulous Wisteria climbing on a trellis.

In addition to these I know there are several amazing locations you may know of. There is the most adorable tiny blue house nearby that has the most amazing pink Magnolia tree out front. It is simply stunning each spring! Someday I may get the courage up to knock on their door and see if I can photograph them.

What’s Happening at the Studio
This week it was time to take down my LOVE sign and create a new window display. I enjoy this opportunity to be creative. However, I had a terrible time taking a good picture of it thanks to all of the reflections. It looks much better in person. I also found this adorable claw foot tub! It can be filled with cushions, bubbles, rubber duckies, popcorn you name it. I think it will be an adorable prop for little ones. I have a 6 month old shoot coming up in March so it won’t be too long before I get to use it.
