Fall Senior Sessions
Here we go! Fall Senior Sessions are happening! With many wanting a photo to submit to the school yearbook (and the deadlines often being late Fall) this is crunch time! Which is perfect with the gorgeous weather and the excitement of the Senior year beginning.
Some of my favorite Fall locations are;
- WSU – The campus has a ton of options and gorgeous colors when the leaves are changing. It also has gorgeous golden grasses, wooden fences, old gates and wide open fields
- Downtown Vancouver/Portland/Camas – Often time the cities have plenty of gorgeous colors! Combining the Fall leaves with the city landscape makes for a stunning backdrop.
- Lucia Falls or Moulton Falls – Just 20ish minutes north of Battle Ground. Either of these locations provide lots of Fall drama and beautiful landscapes to work with
- Sternwheeler Park, La Center – This is a gorgeous park with huge trees, wide open fields, a gazebo and pretty bridges.
- Ft. Vancouver – Golden grasses, wide open fields with the historic Fort in the background!
- Your own yard – many times I have photographed people in their own yards, where their Fall trees are on gorgeous display!
Fall Senior Session -Ashlyn- Class of 2022
This hardworking beauty is looking forward to her Senior year and what the future holds for her. We met for the first time a couple of weeks ago at the studio to discuss her Senior Session. One of the things we needed to decide was where her session would be. I was excited when she landed on Lucia Falls. With just a hint of Fall in the air but mostly sun we had a blast exploring the rocky areas as well as the forested ones. I had warned her that she would need shoes for walking on rocks as we scrambled around to get the best shots. Ashlyn said a few times how gorgeous it was there and that she was having fun!
Thank you Ashlyn! You were really fun to photograph! Congrats on your Senior year!
Location: Lucia Falls
Why I love it: This time of year the water is low so there are plenty of places where you can get close to the water as well as woods and some rustic wood buildings.
Things to know: – If you have a hard time walking on uneven surfaces this is not the location for you. This does involve some scrambling as we navigate the rocky terrain.
Daphney Turns 1!
This little sweetheart came to the studio last week to celebrate her first birthday! Naturally soon to be one year old’s don’t sit still. It takes a lot of energy and hopeful thinking to get them to look, smile and hold still as you try to photograph them in a small area. As three adults worked hard to accomplish the impossible Daphney had a great time exploring the beautiful set that was created for her shoot. Her amazing Mom made all of the bee themed props that I thought were just super cute! I was happy to be able to use my gorgeous handmade, paper flower backdrops as well. We ended the session with a cake smash. Daphney dove right in and enjoyed the frosting immensely!
It was a really fun session and I’m so glad to have the opportunity to photograph this sweet girl again!
Happy Birthday – To me and Jeff!
Last week Jeff and I both had birthdays. We were blessed to be able to celebrate with all of our kids! We gathered down in Redlands at Josh and Jocelyn’s new home. For my birthday (on the 3rd) we had Crumbl Cookies and for Jeff’s birthday (the 4th) Josh and Jocelyn made him their famous strawberry rhubarb pie (Josh reports it was very difficult to find rhubarb down there!).
We ate, played games, went for walks and explored the area ( I loved the cute umbrella alley in Redlands) It was a really nice time in spite of the heat! It was super duper hot over the weekend and didn’t feel at all like September! Now we are all back to our respective homes and jumping back into our routines. I’m looking forward to the next time we can all be together.
