Best of Clark County 2021 – Shelly Fry Photography?
Hi Friends,
The Columbian is running their annual BOCC competition. I know it’s just a popularity contest and I am definitely the little fish in the pond. When I was nominated as one of five for BOCC a couple years ago it felt really good! It’s lovely to say in my marketing that I have been nominated for BOCC (winning would be even better). Now I have even more experience under my belt and I would love another shot at this friendly contest. However, I can’t do it alone. The only way to even get on the ballot is if enough of you nominate me. That is step one. Then if I get nominated, the next step is voting. Nominations are accepted from now until April 25th. The same two photographers seem to win each year but I’m feeling brave so here’s my hat – I’m throwing it in…

Booking Stuff!
This week started with a bang! The sharp contrast between now and a year ago has my heart so grateful! One year ago I was closed and wondered if my business would survive. This year I am booking more weddings than ever and my Spring schedule has been full of fun shoots! The weather is perfectly highlighting the gorgeous Spring blooms and I am thrilled! I am very excited about this weekend’s Senior Session(s). Looks like we’ve got weather and blooms!
I’ve also designed and ordered 3 albums this past month. One wedding and two Senior albums. It is so exciting when the albums arrive! There is just something about being able to sit down and slowly turn the pictures as each photo comes into sharp view!
Adventuring
Jeff and I had a lot of fun last weekend. Here are the highlights
Pips donuts – yes there is a line and YES it’s totally worth it!!
Wooden Shoe Festival – If you hadn’t noticed, Tulips are my FAVORITE! However, this was my very first trip down to this amazing farm. I had avoided it in the past because it’s wildly popular and I had heard the traffic was a nightmare getting there. This year you have to buy tickets in advance and pick a specific time to be there. Our tickets were for Noon. We rolled right in and parked –no problem. We had such a great visit. The fields were at 50% bloom and just gorgeous! Totally worth it! There is no time limit for how long you are there and we noticed some people had brought a picnic lunch (there is food to buy there) and were just hanging out on the beautiful grounds.
Mary’s Peak – I had only recently learned of this place and since we were down in the Woodburn area I thought it would be a good opportunity to keep heading South and explore this hike. While you can drive most of it, we chose to hike the East Ridge Trail Head and parked at Connors Camp. It was almost an 8 mile hike with a 1,700 elevation gain. The forest was gorgeous and the views from the top were endless. The most challenging part was the very end where it was just a giant snow hill to climb. But, I’d say it was totally worth it!
Looking Back
Here is a link to a blog I wrote one year ago https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/socks-shelly-fry-photography It’s about socks. My business was shut down and I guess I was in a reflective mood 🙂
