Family Session – The Westcotts

I absolutely love having the opportunity to work with a family over and over again! This is the third year in a row I have been asked to take this gorgeous family’s photos! I enjoy the relationship and watching the kids grow over time! Their daughters Kathryn and Victoria just keep getting lovelier and lovelier with each passing year!

However, this years shoot was different from past years. I have been so thankful for the amazing weather we have had this past year! 😎 I have barely had to give the weather a second thought! And then November showed up!! We all showed up for our photo session and things were off to a great start! I had worried all day about the weather because the forecast was for “showers” not rain but “showers” whatever that means. 😯 My trusty assistant was checking his weather radar and at the beginning of the session I could even detect the tiniest bit of blue through the clouds.DSC_9009

Then only 30 minutes into the session we noticed really black clouds overhead and my assistant/weatherman/husband announced we had about 5 minutes before we would get dumped on! 🙄 Of course at this point I had lead us far away from the cars…

I quickly snapped a few more and then we ran for it! Sideways rain, hail, wind oh the joys! It was as we were driving home I realized we had missed an opportunity to do a “drowned rat” session! I now wish we would have stuck it out and taken the pictures in the pouring rain! Of course I’m not sure how they would have felt about that!  😆

As I look ahead at the forecast and my scheduled sessions I see that I may have future opportunities to have a family session in the pouring rain if anyone is willing  😆

Something New

I really do feel like a new mom. I’m not getting out except for the essential things like work and Drs appointments. I miss my old life sometimes…So I was thrilled when a friend asked if I would join her on an excursion to the big city and my favorite store – Powell’s Books! Yippee! I was thrilled to buy {something new} to read and to just wander those gorgeous bookshelves!

Scarf

I wore a {scarf} yesterday but struggled taking a picture of it…I simply wasn’t inspired. Then I looked at Lucy and thought hmmm….

I then spent 10 minutes trying to hold her still enough to get the {scarf} on and the next 45 minutes with my camera trying to get a shot where she was 1. holding still 2. looking at the camera 3. at an angle where I could see the scarf 4. In a well lit part of the house 😉

Mission accomplished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lucy Update~

One step forward, three steps back…

After five days with zero accidents I had decided I could let my guard down and not watch her every second…big mistake  😮

After two nights of sleeping seven hours she was up after three last night…

After switching kennels she has managed to move this one even further across the floor while I’m away…
