Last week I had the opportunity to take the beautiful Smith Family’s pictures in Walla Walla. What a beautiful family! Clearly David and Janelle have their hands full with their four gorgeous daughters! Ainsley (11), Larissa (9), Claireese (7), and Ellasyn (5). I knew I would struggle keeping the girls names straight and was so relieved when right off the bat Janelle gave me a gift – she said just call them 1,2,3,4 they will answer to that 😆 So that is exactly what I did!
I loved the girls energy and obvious connection to each other! While I didn’t have the courage to have more children I always admire large families! I will admit that I still cry every time I watch the Cheaper by the Dozen movies with Steve Martin. 🙄
These girls were pretty excited because I had also brought their new puppy! They are the proud owners of one of Lucy’s sisters! So I guess that makes 5 little girls in the family now! 😀
Thank you Janelle and David for spending a Sunday morning with me! I loved every minute!
Negative Space

While this isn’t the best example of {negative space} it is what I had time for that day! Just a reminder {negative space} is when you intentionally frame your subject so that you leave lots of empty space to one side or the other drawing attention to your subject. Obviously there is nothing negative about this sweet face!

Saturday morning we had to drive our friend Darrel to the airport so in an effort to console myself I suggested we check out a new place that I had been following on instagram. I had been drooling over the pictures from Pip’s Original Donuts and was dying to try them out! When we showed up at 11:30 on a Sunday and saw a line going out the door into the pouring rain I figured it would be worth it! 😆 And yes, they were yummy!
We had a fun quick visit from our Georgia friend Darrel. He was on his way home from Hawaii and decided to stop in and visit us and we are so glad he did! Our first stop was Slappy Cakes! Another yummy PDX experience!
Then we made a quick visit to a pumpkin farm…
And he wanted to stop by and see my studio so we did that too! 😀
And much, much too quickly it was time to take him back to the airport so he could fly back home to his sweet wife!
Homemade

Families just might be the best {homemade} thing ever! I can’t think of anything I value more than my family. It is such a blessing to be among people who love you no matter what! I absolutely love family sessions! I appreciate that there can be much stress for my clients as they figure out what to wear and try to generate cooperation from the family members who are less interested in posing for the camera! 🙄 But I strive to make every session an enjoyable relaxed experience! And I want to make sure you end up with beautiful pictures of your precious family to treasure forever!
We seem to have entered into the rainy season which causes me much stress! My Sunday was spent watching the skies and hoping it wouldn’t rain on my scheduled family session. We were able to pull it off but we had to wrap it up early and run for cover just as the heavens opened up and poured down! More on that later!
