PNW Photographer
I’m sure there are other lovely places in the country to work as a photographer. However, this is my home. I’ve now traveled to all 50 states and I have seen some amazing views! I have visited places I wouldn’t mind going back to. There have even been times when I had to leave to return home before I really wanted to. What all that travel has taught me is that I am blessed to live right where I want to be. Which means the PNW is my office and I love it! I will admit the weather stresses me out at times! Just last week we had to go to plan B for Brendon and Helen’s engagement session. If you missed it click here https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/thats-a-wrap-shelly-fry-photography. Turns out, Plan B worked out really well!
Being a PNW photographer means I have lots and lots of amazing locations for my sessions. I really enjoy being able to match the location to whomever I am photographing. Some of my favorites are the Columbia River Gorge, Urban sessions in both PDX and Vancouver, the Oregon Coast and the numerous parks and lesser known natural spots I love to share with my clients. I consider lots of things when choosing a location. For example – weather, light, accessibility as well as stunning backgrounds for each picture. I’m always happy to help with suggestions!
Kreps Family 2023
2023 started off with this beautiful family! Jan 1st at 10am the Kreps family showed up all bright eyed and ready for their shoot! I love how they coordinated their colors! The weather isn’t always ideal for January sessions. For this family the fact that I had a studio to help keep everyone warm and dry was a plus! We did grab some shots outside. I loved everyone’s energy! There were even requests for some “corny” poses which of course I was happy to comply with! With lots of laughter and energy this was a really fun family!
Monique – Class of 2023
One of the best things about being a photographer here in the PNW is that when it’s good it’s AMAZING! Monique lives in CA. She was here visiting family over the holidays. Monique is also a skier. While we didn’t have the opportunity to go up to the mountain together the Hood did decide to show off a bit during her session at Ft. Vancouver. As soon as we saw the sun light up the mountain we all started running to get the best shot! I am excited to go through the rest of her images! That was just the icing on the cake! To have an outside session this time of year when the light and weather all come together is such a blessing! We didn’t have much wiggle room with her availability and I’m so thankful it all came together beautifully!
Do you enjoy reading?
If my home ever catches on fire you will find me frantically trying to save my books (and pictures of course!). I have developed a real love of reading as an adult. For me, it’s important to own the book (no ebooks for me). I guess you could call me a book collector. Once I’ve read a book I write my name in it along with the month and year I read it and then my rating. 5 stars = loved it 1 star = wish I’d skipped it. It makes me very happy when someone wants to discuss books. I’m even happier if we get to look through my bookshelves together. Lately, I’ve been on a book buying spree and my “to read” shelf is filling up!
My husband asks me “how do you know what books you want to read?” My answer is, I follow different book clubs and pay attention to their recommendation. I also read any book review that pops into my inbox. And honestly, sometimes I just like the cover.
Here is a peek at my yet to be read books.
If you are interested in reading my monthly newsletter includes a section where I review the books I have read each month. You can sign up here http://madmimi.com/signups/f92831e48f4c4758a38ad3779e2d9f9b/join
