Hi Friends,
Woohoo, I have 3 upcoming sessions this month! However, without any recent photo sessions I don’t have much to share. So I thought I would take this opportunity to shine some light on some aspects of my business. This week I will be sharing with you what a typical family session is like with SFP.
What is a family session like with me?
Reviews –
A word about reviews-
How do you find a business? If you are like most of us you Google it. Once you Google it how do you narrow it down? You read the reviews. Yep, that’s how it works in this world! 11 months ago someone I’ve never met, so obviously I’ve never worked with them gave me a 3 star Google review. Now thanks to them, I will never have a 5 star Google rating. That kills me. I have researched and there isn’t anything I can do. Thankfully all of my other Google reviews are 5s so that means overall I’m am rated 4.9 according to Google.
Asking for a 5 star Google review is not my favorite part of my job. But it’s necessary. I have to play by the rules if I want to survive. Some of my clients will receive a request from me asking for a review. I always include that if they don’t think I deserve a 5 star review to please let me know directly so I can address the issue and improve my service.
Do I think I’m perfect? Not by a long shot. But I do strive with every single session to give you 5 star service.
Here is a link if you haven’t previously reviewed me and believe I delivered 5 star service.
My Goal for each session –
Fun! Seriously, I just want you all to relax and have fun!
I know how stressf_ul it can be to prepare for a photo shoot. Especially if you are the one having to coordinate everyone’s clothing and get the kids as well as the spouse motivated to show up looking and behaving their best.
I am here to help with every question that may pop into your head. If it’s about clothing, locations, posing etc. That is what I’m here for.
From the moment we choose the date I am at your disposal for any questions and concerns. I am a big believer in communication and I love helping!
Once you arrive for the photo session, it is all up to me! Seriously, I don’t want you worrying about what your kids are doing, where to put your hands or how your hair is looking. Those are all my job to worry about! I just want you and your family to take a big breath and enjoy yourselves!
What happens during a photo session?
Let’s say you are a family of 5.
The session is broken down into several mini sessions. Each individual kid is photographed alone and then with their siblings. The entire family is photographed together and then I always make sure and take pictures of the parents together. When is the last time you had a professional photograph taken of you and your spouse? For many it was their wedding day!
All of these photos are taken as we wander around whatever location you have chosen for your shoot. I love to vary the backgrounds and I have a talented eye in finding the best spots for your photos. There is lots of chatting and laughing. I love this opportunity to make new friends and find out more about you.
In the end your gallery will include gorgeous portraits of your entire family and each individual and any other groupings you may like.
What happens after the photo session?
In honor of impatient people everywhere (I’m the leader of this group!) I post to social media sneak peeks of your session the day of! No waiting for weeks wondering if the photos turned out. Within 2 weeks I will have your fully edited gallery emailed to you. From that gallery you can view all of the gorgeous images from our session and order what you like.
Every photo session comes with a $100 print credit.
What’s ahead for 2020
As we start a new year I am going to try to add a few more items to my to-do list.
This week I will begin Family Fridays and Senior Sundays. On each of those days I will simply feature a past family or senior on my social media accounts. If you’d like to follow along here are the links.

I am still working on my overall goal list for 2020 and hope to share it on next weeks blog.
SFP NEWS
Have you signed up for my monthly newsletter? My newsletter was one of my 2019 goals. I brilliantly recognized my own weakness and hired someone to help me with it. My first edition was sent on April 1st of last year. On January 1st my 10th edition hit inboxes.
The newsletter is another way to connect and hear what is going on with SFP as well as some personal tidbits I throw in.

The newsletter was created with a recognition that not everyone uses social media. Those that do aren’t always on at just the right time to learn about events, specials, happenings. SFP News is a way to communicate without social media or in addition to.

What I’m Reading – The Giver of Stars by JoJo Moyes
I ripped through The Girl You Left Behind in December, loving all of it so I was excited to read another book by this author.
After finishing this book ( our January book club pick) I will be reading her other books as well. It’s so satisf_ying to find an author you enjoy.
The Giver of Stars is written during the Great Depression and the setting is Easter Kentucky one of the poorest regions in the US. FDR is President and through one of Elenor’s initiatives traveling libraries are founded under the umbrella of the New Deal. The goal is to spread literacy to the poorest communities.
The book focuses on Margery and the women and men who gather around and support her as she begins the pack horse library. Hours on horseback through treacherous weather and trails to deliver books to the most remote homes in their area.
The characters and their interactions captivated me. I loved how a group of people with such extreme differences were brought together as a tight knit family under this program.
I gave it 5 stars.
Toe Update
Today marks 5 weeks since surgery. This past week I have started wearing shoes…occasionally. It’s disappointing how much a shoe hurts those little toes. I had a Dr. appointment this week. My little ones are pretty badly swollen still so now I have compression gauze to help with that. I had been worrying about the lack of movement in my big toe. Well she grabbed that sucker and bent it. I almost kicked her. I’m not joking! YIKES! Apparently that is what is needed to push through the scar tissue. So I have to find the courage to do that to myself 10xs in a row 3xs a day. How do you voluntarily hurt yourself several times a day? Prayers needed friends!
No hikes yet…
