Class of 2023 – Shelly Fry Photography

Class of 2023

As the Summer is rapidly coming to a close my phone is frequently ringing with people wanting to book their Class of 2023 seniors portrait session. As my calendar fills up I am excited to meet all of these new Seniors!  While we head into next week which for many is their last full week of Summer I hope everyone can have the attitude of Cassidy (see below) who is looking forward to this next school year. For those of us who are not in school as we head into another season there is so much to be thankful for. I for one am looking forward to pumpkins, sweaters and all things Fall!

Hall Family

Before we get into the Senior Portraits I have a couple of beautiful families to share with you! I had the pleasure of meeting the Hall family about 4 years ago when I was asked to photograph them.  This time the entire family wasn’t able to gather.  There was one new addition from the last time we gathered. Princess Kimmy was still cooking inside her momma during our last photo session. She in her tiara and big brother proudly showing off his missing teeth were a lot of fun to photograph.

I don’t usually say this but I think my favorite picture of the year is the one above. George and Jan are just so adorable!  I asked if they wanted individual pictures and they said “no we are a package deal!” How cute is that!!

McClure Family

A couple of months ago I photographed Linda -you can see her session here https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/graduation-season-shelly-fry-photography   -who talked fondly of her family which includes her adult daughters and their families who live here in the area. Linda really wanted them to each have family photos so she arranged a couple of mini family sessions through me. This past week I had the opportunity to meet one of her daughters and the family.

I really enjoy families with older kids. Its fun to get them to interact with each other. I really appreciated how relaxed and positive this group was to photograph.

AJ Class of 2023

Class of 2023

AJ choose the waterfront at Ridgefield for his Senior photos.  When his mom and I discussed what AJ would want in his Senior session she mention his truck would have to be included. AJ told me he loves that truck and will have it his whole life! So we made sure to include the truck pictures and I told him he needed a large canvas of one with his truck to hang up on the wall when he gets his first home.   This is a beautiful location for those who like nature for their backdrop. With the river, grassy fields and trails there are lots of options.  Congratulations on your senior year AJ!

Cassidy Class of 2023

Class of 2023

When I met with Cassidy’s mom to discuss her senior session she mentioned that she really likes flowers and wanted a location that included them. Originally Cassidy’s session was supposed to be a couple of weeks ago when we had 100+ degrees so we rescheduled. With all of our heat I was worried about the flowers. Happily the location still had plenty of blooms to work with! Cassidy is considering pursuing architecture  after she graduates. We bonded over our height and chatted about volleyball during her session. When we talked about when school was starting up again I was happy to hear Cassidy is really looking forward to her Senior year!

Ben Class of 2023

Class of 2023

My last Senior Session this week was with Ben. He is a senior at BGHS and is looking forward to pursuing Computer Science once he graduates.  With two weeks of his summer left he plans on relaxing and making the most of his time off.  We talked about what he likes participating in during track and field season and that he plans to WSU Pullman next Fall.

Studio Shoot with Sibs

When Kaelyn texted me these pictures and said she wanted to recreate them with her girls I was excited! Kaelyn’s mom (pictured above) had recently found the dresses from their portrait years ago (Kaelyn is the little girl on the left) and the idea of recreating the photos with Kaelyn’s two daughters was born. I really enjoy the opportunity to recreate sets! I had the white background and she had the dresses and two daughters. The most challenging part of this session would be to get the little ones to pose just right.

When they arrived at the studio she hadn’t even tried the dresses on. Concerned with the age of the clothes and her girls she didn’t want anything to happen to them prior to the shoot. I was amazed at how perfectly each dress fit! While the next generation of girls certainly had their  own ideas for posing I think we were able to capture the idea. A big shout out to Becky for her assist during this very busy shoot! I could not have done it without her help!

In addition we did a 1st bday session with little sis! I always have fun creating sets for these shoots. Mom brought the pink blanket, balloon and cupcakes completing the look. I love this little ones expressions!
