Honor/A Black-White Edit

Honor
145/365
While I have had some family members who have served in the military, they have all come home safely…
I can’t imagine the grief of losing someone who has gone away to fight for their country…
I think it is entirely appropriate that our nation has a day to {honor} remember them…

Memorial Day also remembers those who served and have died…
I had the privilege to photograph this military funeral a few years back…
It was so moving…beautiful, powerful…

So when I was considering what to shoot for {honor} I decided to go back to that cemetery…
There is something powerful about the US flag to me…
It has always moved me, especially when they are out in force…

Black and White Edit

I love Black and White…
It is a skill I need to develop more…
There are specific editing techniques…

For this particular picture (Frozen in Time) I prefer it in color but I love the texture brought out on the stump and sky in the black and white…

Awhile back I posted these two images on FB and asked which was preferred…
The color won out 🙂

I think overall I prefer black and white in portraits over landscapes…
It really depends on the lighting in that particular shot…

I like the color version of this picture fine, but I really liked the black and white. To my eye it just popped and it was right for the rocky beach setting…

Sometimes I like either equally like this sunrise shot at Ft. Vancouver…
