Class of 2023 – Shelly Fry Photography

Class of 2023

Hello Class of 2023! I see you!@ As we head towards Graduation season for the Class of 2022 it’s hard not to notice the bright eyes and eager smiles of those who will quickly follow in their footsteps! As I continue to photograph Seniors for this year I am ready to begin booking for the Class of 2023 to show up in front of my camera!

Class of 2023

If you have a future Class of 2023 Senior here is some advice. Book early! Fall is the most popular time for Senior portraits and most area HS have yearbook deadlines in October and early November.  There are only so many days in the week! I suggest the following;

  1. If you want a Fall session -Book now! Seriously!
  2. If you aren’t set on Fall book a Summer session!

I am excited to meet the Class of 2023!

Class of 2022

I am enjoying the last few Seniors for this years graduating class! Spring is always a great season to be photographed in. This year the weather windows are a bit narrow but we are making it work! When the weather is nice it is SO nice!

Abby – Class of 2022

Class of 2023

Some people arrive at their Senior Session with butterflies of excitement. Other’s arrive with nerves of a different kind. Abby was nervous when she arrived. I completely understand! I have had my pictures taken a time or two and I am not relaxed and confident in front of the camera!

As soon as I realized Abby was uncomfortable I went to work helping her relax! With my camera down at my hip we just talked for a bit. I asked her about herself and we walked down the trail to what I knew would be our first location. I told her it was normal to be nervous and we would just work through it. I told jokes (I’m hilarious!) I also talked about how I feel in front of the camera. I also assured her that I’m very bossy and I don’t expect her to know how to do this. I would help every step of the way.

It wasn’t long after we started I saw her real smile. She was relaxing and even enjoying herself! WIN! WIN!

Julia – Class of 2022

Class of 2023

Julia showed up in downtown PDX excited about her session! She loves the city and I loved that she had chosen The Pearl District as her location.  Frankly, I was giddy! We had amazing light and quiet city streets to work with! My husband and trusty assistant pulls a wagon around where we kept Julia’s change of clothes. We easily found coffee shop bathrooms for her to change her outfits in. We enjoyed exploring the hidden away alleys as well as the the bold textures and colors the city has to offer.

Graduation Season – Class of 2022

Here are a couple of options for this years graduates –

Exposure – Shelly Fry Photography

If you are a regular reader of my weekly blog you may remember I was worried about leaving Main St. One of the best things about my last studio was the exposure it offered my business. My new studio can’t be seen from the street. With the SFP sign coming down from Main St. I was very worried people would assume I had gone out of business.

In the last month I have had multiple people reach out to me who have done so because they have seen my sign! I have an A-board out on the road we live on. So I guess I do have some visibility after all! However, someone did run over it this week. They left tire marks a muddied sign and a headlight behind…

Foot Saga

Shelly Fry Photography

I had foot surgery July of 2020. It was a big deal and kept my mobility limited for awhile. The following May (2021) I had finally recovered enough to be able to hike miles and miles during our trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. This past February of 2022 I began having pain in the same foot. My foot surgery left some hardware in there so I was concerned a screw had come loose.

Please go away!

I tried to ignore it, hoping it would resolve itself. When that didn’t work I finally made a Drs appointment. Unfortunately I had to wait 6 weeks to be seen. In the meantime I just tried to keep going. The pain was sharp and causing me to limp but I didn’t tell anyone except my husband. 3 weeks ago I had to give up going for walks. It just hurt too much.

Last week I gave up climbing because it just hurt too much. There were tears…

What is wrong?????

I was getting really scared and frankly depressed.  My biggest fear was that I would have to have surgery again! With all my future bookings and my sons wedding coming up I was freaking out.

This week I finally saw the Dr. I don’t have to have surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do have a stress fracture. I have been walking around on a broken foot for a couple of months. The good news is all I have to do is wear a boot for a few weeks! I can still walk! I don’t need surgery! I am so thankful!

Hamilton – WOW!

When the first notes of music began my body was instantly covered in goosebumps! I had tears in my eyes. It’s so powerful and overwhelming! I am so thankful we got to experience it live! I was doubly thankful when they had to cancel all of the weekend performances due to a flu outbreak among the cast. My heart went out to those ticket holders!

Class of 2023

Teepee! It’s done!

Shelly Fry Photography

If you missed the post about my Texas trip a few weeks ago click here https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/shelly-fry-photography-2 It was while on that trip I was inspired by a Teepee in the garden area at the Magnolia Silos marketplace in Waco. You can see m inspiration in the far left picture. And you can see my version curtesy our poor pear tree which broke last week on the far right.

I can’t wait until it has a honeysuckle climbing all over it! I love it!

Thanks for stopping by friends!

Shelly
