Natasha {Tasha} and Tosh met while they were both working at Camp Mivoden. The similarity of their names had caught their attention. But beyond their names, Natasha admits, he had caught her eye. One day they both volunteered to clean dishes and ended up talking and joking and having a wonderful time. Soon after Tasha had to leave but was wishing she could have gotten to know Tosh better. Fortunately he felt the same way and messaged her after camp. What started out as a simple hello turned into hour long conversations and now they are Mr.&Mrs!
I asked Natasha about their engagement and this is what she shared with me –
“Tosh and I had talked about getting engaged during Christmas time, so when we went on a trip to Sun River with his family in August, I was completely unsuspecting. On August 4th at around 4am we drove an hour from Sun River to Smith Rocks to hike up Misery Ridge and see the sunrise. After hiking to the top we looked out at the amazing view and started taking pictures. Unbeknownst to me, Tosh was filming the entire experience with his go pro. He asked me to pose for pictures and hoped to pop the question then, but to his frustration I would pose and then turn around or go sit down again. He eventually sat down next to me and proposed, catching my complete surprise on video. It was a perfect surprise proposal at a beautiful place that now holds a special meaning for both of us. We still laugh about how I wouldn’t hold still long enough for him to get down on one knee while taking pictures and the video is hilarious to look back on.”
It was such a joy to participate in this lovely wedding! The love and excitement was palatable! Not even the weather got them down!
5 minuets after getting the bride in position for the first look and 3 minuets after the groom had his first look this was happening! The heavens opened up and it POURED!!! 😯
Unfazed and now donning a blanket and rain jacket the bride sat down and ate some lunch! I love a girl that just rolls with it! Clearly her focus was on marrying the man of her dreams and it simply didn’t matter what the weather would do! 🙂
It poured so hard and so fast that even when the rain would take a temporary and highly sporadic break the ground was a muddy, wet mess, not ideal for strolling along in a lovely wedding dress… 😥 And when we did find a somewhat less muddy outdoor spot in a brief sun break the trees where dripping making huge wet splotches on the grooms shirt…
The wedding had wisely been moved indoors to the shelter – which was decorated beautifully.
Thankfully the shelter had large eves that I could tuck the happy couple under in order to take the pictures I had planned to take out under the gorgeous Willow trees and in the lush forest…
I kept trying to find ways to get them outside during the sun breaks and Tasha and Tosh were awesome sports! So patient and trusting with me! Really such a lovely couple to work with! As I was shooting I looked over and saw the steam rising and asked if they were willing to venture out on the muddy ground for a few shots and they said Yes!
I kept luring everyone outside whenever the rain would stop – and EVERY SINGLE TIME I had about 5 min tops to take a few pictures before the rain would return.
When the groomsmen suggest I take butt shots – I take butt shots! 😆
After the ceremony we ran down to those gorgeous Willows and had about 5 min to shoot until the rain started AGAIN! 🙄
But then… the clouds parted and it was nothing but sunshine! That’s the way it goes! While I would certainly preferred more cooperative weather I couldn’t have had nicer people to work with! Everyone was so chill and just went with the flow which made it such a lovely day!
Thank you Tasha and Tosh for sharing such a special time with me! I hope you are having a lovely time on your honeymoon and I wish you many, many happy years – rain or shine!
