Hi Friends,
What I’m Doing – Blogging
Did you notice? I didn’t show up last week. It’s OK. I did break my streak of posting a blog every single week of the year. Last week there was no blogging. But, life happens. I had a really good reason if that matters. It never matters to the police officers or my teachers but now that I’m adult I just expect everyone to believe me when I say I have a really good reason.
Because I didn’t show up last week (or even really participate in the week) I feel a bit disconnected. So I’m back and ready to connect again.
As I write this I am sitting in my studio. The air conditioning is blowing the curtains around as the sunlight pours into the studio. I’m here to meet a mom and senior from BGHS. I hope I will be booking a senior session with them. We had an awesome phone conversation over the weekend. I’m excited and hopeful about meeting them.
Summer is definitely winding down even as the temperatures are finally more Summer like (isn’t that they way it always goes) I find myself slipping into a Fall frame of mind…I do love Fall but I know it isn’t time yet. So I will continue to soak in the Summer vibe while we have it.
What I’ve Been Reading –
During my down time I have been reading like crazy!!! I am 7 books ahead of my year goal on Goodreads. Did you check goodreads out? https://www.goodreads.com If so lets be friends! I would love to share my list and see what is on yours! Is it it weird that occasionally I buy the Oprah magazine (it’s like 6 bucks!!) just so I can read through the section recommending what to read?
The Handmaid’s Tale – I want to discuss this book to death!!! Seriously if you have read it lets have lunch and talk about it!!!
I will admit there are parts of this book that make you squirm and that is exactly why I’m dying to discuss it! I haven’t seen the TV series and I’m not entirely sure I want to watch it. The most disturbing question that sprang to my mind was “how would I have handled a similar situation and could this happen today?”
The Bookshop of Yesterday – Just a good old summer read. The main character is a history teacher which I can relate to. She inherits a book store which I can dream about and has some complicated family issues – who doesn’t relate to that? This is a first novel for this author, Amy Meyerson and I believe she has done a fine job!
Goal Check
No goals have been met recently….
What I’m Photographing –
August will be a very light month for me. I am doing some recovering (I’m totally fine I promise) so at this point I am meeting with clients, writing blogs, and just taking it easy. While I was supposed to take the entire month off, I couldn’t help myself and I’ve booked a few things towards the end. I am excited about how full my Fall calendar already is! I’m looking forward to getting back into full speed!
Fall has always been the absolute busiest time of year for Family and Senior Sessions. Here is a look back on a blog I wrote a couple of years ago about why I love Family Sessions https://shellyfryphotography.com/family-photos/love-family-sessions-family-photographer-battle-ground-wa-vancouver-wa
Some of the pictures from that post really highlight how much families change in such a short time!
My Current Favorite –
As I look ahead on my calendar I have so much to look forward to. Today we head to the beach for a few days. This is part 2 of our summer vacation. I am really looking forward to the luxury of spending a few nights at the coast. We generally take day trips so this will be a treat! Then, shortly after we get home, my sweet niece and hubby and baby NORA are coming for a visit. The following week, Josh and Jocelyn are coming into town for a wedding. Then the following week ,I’m back at the beach for an amazing Senior Session. I love a full calendar!
Hey friends, if you have a quick second I would LOVE it if you would comment below on 2 or 3 or 10 things that are making your heart happy right now!
Thanks for stopping by!
