Family
Family has always been something I am very thankful for. I have mentioned the past couple of weeks that life has been filled with some amazing highs and some really rotten lows. One of those lows has been Grammy’s health. For those of you who don’t know, “Grammy” is Jeff’s grandmother. Her 100th birthday is June 16th. She lives just down the road from us in an Adult Family Home. 2 weeks ago she fell in the middle of the night and hit her head. She spent 3 nights in the hospital and day 2 was really scary.
She, as well as the family, have always been really thankful that in spite of her age, she has remained mentally sharp and physically healthy. Grammy deals with her aches and pains and the frustrations that come along with advanced age with grace. Before her fall we enjoyed her wit and lovely conversations about days gone bye. She always wanted to know what all of the family was up to. She loved looking at pictures and hearing the latest about what everyone was doing. Grammy has always been interested in the details of our lives and would always ask me how business was.
It was decided that Grammy had suffered a concussion when she fell. Sadly, she has not been the same since. It’s difficult to know what the future holds for her but we continue to love her and visit with her. Sadly, she doesn’t seem to remember the family. I think Jeff and I are familiar to her but gone are the usual questions and conversation. When her beloved (and only) Great- Granddaughter made the journey (only one week postpartum) so she could introduce to Grammy her newest Great-great Grandson, Grammy was able to hold him but didn’t know any of them.
Having our nearly two year old Great-niece and 1 week old Great-nephew at our home over the weekend certainly brightened our spirits! What beautiful humans they are. It’s so exciting to watch our family grow. Owen and Grammy are only a month shy of being 100 years apart! In the picture of Owen on the bottom right he is laying on a quilt that his Great-great-great-great Grandmother made!
So we continue to pray for peace and comfort for her. We really appreciate all of the love and support from those of you who have reached out.
True Love – Engagement Session
These two are tying the knot this Summer! As we wandered around the beautiful WSU campus (Angie’s alma mater) for their session, it was blatantly obvious that these two are head over heals in love! I’ve known Garret since HS and our kids grew up and went to school together.
Angie’s gorgeous daughter was on last week’s blog for her Grad Session. If you missed MacKenzie’s sneak peeks click here https://shellyfryphotography.com/my-everyday/grads-and-elopements-shelly-fry-photography
As much as I love meeting new people there is something extra special when I have the opportunity to photograph people I have history with. Especially when it is such a happy time! Congratulations to you both! I’m excited about your upcoming wedding!
Have a great day,
Shelly
