What I’m Photographing – Seniors, Class of 2020
Last week was challenging with so many clients and so many rain drops! Thankfully we are all being flexible and the sessions are getting done. I love meeting this years Senior class. Every Senior I have photographed this year has been super nice. They are excited about their futures and tell me that they are having fun during their shoot. I really enjoy chatting with them and finding out about their future plans and their current interests.
I am also a tad jealous of those fresh faces and the youth they all ooze!
What I’m Doing – Photographing
Every evening this week I am booked for a shoot. My weekend is also full with a family session in Cathlamet and another Senior session in the Gorge. Which is WONDERFUL. That means my days are filled with editing, album creating and all the chores that come from life. I am so thankful to be busy during this Fall season. The phone keeps ringing and I’m thankful for every session I book. I am noticing more calls regarding family sessions as the Senior Portrait season is winding down.
Goal Check – Stay Caught Up!
Maintaining a balance during busy season is not always achievable. However, if I don’t make time for exercise these long hours behind the computer culling and editing photos will drive me bananas! Lucy is very effective at reminding me it’s time to move. Namely get up and take her for a walk! Preferable a long walk somewhere cool!
So I strive to not let things fall apart at home, stay on top of my culling, editing, writing and designing as well as squeezing in some exercise and me time. Doing all this makes for some very long days but I’m thankful for the time and the energy.
My {Current} Favorite – Pumpkin Spice Chai
Have you noticed? The leaves are changing!!! The light, the leaves the sky everything is so vibrant when the sun shines. When I have to sit for hours behind the computer I love having a steaming hot chai next to me to sip on. Tis the season for crunchy leaves and hot chais!
Also, I LOVE getting albums in the mail! It is so exciting to see the portraits printed and bound in a gorgeous album! As you turn each page the story just unfolds and its so beautiful! This week I not only had albums delivered I also ordered a new 20×30 canvas for my studio wall
What I’m Reading – Plainsong by Kent Haruf
Our book club met this week and it was my turn to choose the next month’s book. I decided on “Plainsong” by Kent Haruf. It’s easy to get overwhelmed choosing a book. After reading so many that I love how do I choose?
Actually, there’s more to it than that. I believe our book club has been going for about 10 years now. So in that time I have had several opportunities to choose a book. I remember the first time I choose and I how excited I was! I had read “The Female Nomad” by Rita Golden Gelman and absolutely loved it! My confidence in my book choice was solid and I looked forward to hosting my first book club.
To make what could be a long story short, it was not a favorite among the group. I just couldn’t understand it. They simply didn’t care for the book. I was disappointed but I survived and along the way we have all picked books that fell short for some of us.
My absolute worst choice ( I even hated it) was “The Cave” by Jose Saramago. What a nightmare! I blindly choose it off a shelf in Powell’s. It boldly stated across the front cover “Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature”. It was a skunk! Among other things it didn’t have any punctuation!!! Pages would go by (literally) before a period would show up. Besides that the story was about nothing, absolutely nothing!
So needless to say I’m nervous when I pick a book. Here’s hoping this is a good one!
Thanks for stopping by!
