Kim gets Tyed – Shelly Fry Photography

Kim and Ty are Married!

I truly can’t believe it’s over! As I sit here Wednesday afternoon, Ty and Kim with the help of her family are settling into their new home. The wedding weekend is already a memory. A very happy memory

We are so thankful for the friends and family who traveled to celebrate with us. We had the opportunity to celebrate the entire weekend. Jeff and I arrived Thursday afternoon (after a 3 hour delay leaving PDX). After fighting lovely LA rush hour traffic we were thrilled to finally arrive at our rental. It had 5 bedrooms which we filled up with family. Our favorite area was the beautiful back patio, pool area. It didn’t take long for us to get in the pool and begin enjoying our time together.

On Friday some of us went put put golfing where I beat Jeff by 1 stroke! I had fun helping my 3 year old niece (who did an AMAZING job as one of the flower girls) We had more pool time and welcomed more friends over for a BBQ that evening. Saturday we had even more friends and family arriving in town. We began the day with a breakfast at our rental. Ty and Kim were able to join us as well and we had fun chowing down on some homemade breakfast burritos. Later that day we packed up and headed to the beach for a picnic. Cousin Diane from WA DC took an unexpected spill into the ocean which had some of running down the beach to rescue her (think Baywatch). Thankfully she was fine.

Saturday evening it was time for the rehearsal dinner. This was the one big thing I was in charge of and well, I screwed up a few things. But I will say the food was delicious!  I just forgot about drinks and forks….

And then suddenly it was the wedding day! The wedding day was perfect! It was such a happy day. The bilingual ceremony was sweet with just the right amount of humor. The officiant had important words of wisdom. Ty and Kim’s vows moved me to tears. The reception began with refreshments outside along with the Mariachi band. Later Ty and Kim were announced as they arrived at the indoor reception with the Mariachi band right behind them. They also had an amazing saxophone soloist play during the reception.

Kim had the coolest “bouquet toss”. There actually wasn’t any tossing. Her bridesmaids tied long ribbons to Kim’s bouquet. She then stood in the middle holding the bouquet up high with one had and had scissors in the other hand. Each single lady grabbed the end of one of the long ribbons tied to the bouquet and began walking in a circle around Kim (think Maypole). Kim kept her eyes closed (sorta) as she reached up and tried to cut ribbons. Once your ribbon was cut you were out. The last ribbon won the bouquet! Supper fun!

They had a sparkler send off with the longest sparklers I’ve ever seen! And then suddenly it was all over!

Earlier, just after the wedding ceremony and before the reception, we were taking family pictures. As Josh and Jocelyn joined us for a family photo my heart swelled. I remember thinking “we are complete”.  Our two sons have found their true loves and this is now our family. I am so thankful! And yes, I do hope we will add to it a few more times – someday… 🙂

We laughed we cried it was the perfect wedding day!

No, I did not photograph their wedding! They chose an excellent photographer and I loved watching her work. Oh my goodness! What stunning images we are already seeing from her! Photography is such a gift! I love being able to relive the day and individual moments as well as see things I missed through the magic of photography! Ty was so handsome and Kim absolutely stunning! The venue had so many gorgeous locations and the light was perfect! I can’t wait to see the entire gallery!

Thank you for stopping by!
