What I’m Doing – Headed to the Beach!

Happy 4th of July Friends!

I am writing an abbreviated blog today. Short and sweet in honor of today’s holiday.

It seems like life is so complicated these days. With PTSD, anxious animals and political correctness demanded of our countries history, celebrating a national holiday is not as easy as it once seemed to me. As I struggled with my thoughts on the matter I came across a post from my friend. I asked if I could share it because it sums up my thoughts perfectly.

“History is important for each person to know and understand. It provides a foundation for today and a step into the future. Our singular mistakes and successes, combined corporately, create a national vision to become better. To eradicate our mistakes, to remove reminders of our history, good or bad, lessen us as individuals and as a country. Refuse to let weak & pathetic splinter groups take away or co-opt our national history and national heritage. Refuse to concede anything to anyone or any group that promotes division, separatism, intimidation, or coercion because they will never stop. Give them an inch, they will take two.” – William Pritchard

Well said my friend! In a country with it’s many faults I still feel thankful to be an American.

I’m old fashioned, I like a good firework show. My pup, does not, so we tend to head somewhere that we believe will be a bit quieter for the holiday.

Today Jeff and I are jumping in the Jeep and heading to the beach. The plan is to watch fireworks as we drive home 🙂

So hiking, beach combing and picnic on the sand is on the agenda for today.  I hope you have lovely plans for this day! Be safe out there friends!

What I’m Photographing – Siblings

Before I go I wanted to share a few shots from last weeks shoot. Emilie and Max are headed to different Universities next year. Their mom wanted a photo shoot of her “kids” while they were home together for the summer. What a great idea! Emilie had so much fun during her Senior Session in PDX she asked for the same location.

There is a challenge when photographing older siblings. While I want to see a connection between them I did not want it to look like an engagement shoot! I think we were successf_ul.

We had a blast photographing these two! It always feels good to deliver completed galleries!

That’s all I got this week!
