Studio Sessions –

There was a time when I didn’t think I would ever want to work in a studio. My nature wants to wander and explore outside and the thought of working in a studio as a photographer just didn’t sound appealing to me.

Well my eyes have been opened! I’m so grateful to have this new much larger space to work in! This was my first week shooting studio sessions in my new location and it was awesome!

Thanks to my step-dad and Jeff the wood wall was moved from the Main St studio and installed here. The very next morning a client requested we use it during her baby’s session!

There are many things I love about my new studio. One of them is how easy it is to go from inside to outside. This is particularly helpful during head shot sessions.

Travis – Studio Session -Professional Head Shot

This was my first studio session at the new studio! Travis is a realtor who needed some images for business cards and advertising.

I loved how easy it was to go between the studio and then just stepping through the glass door to get some really nice natural light shots.

Meredith in PDX – Class of 2022

I will admit that regardless of how thrilled I am with my new studio and sessions there, it will always be my second favorite.

Oh man do I love an urban session! Meredith is a huge soccer fan so we started her shoot in front of Providence Park. I hadn’t shot around that area before and we had fun exploring and shooting with some really fun backgrounds. Our next location was the Broadway Bridge which was a short walk along Naito Pkwy to the Pedestrian bridge near the train station.

Meredith’s confidence in front of the camera was really fun to work with! I was a bit worried about the fog as we drove into the city. As it turns out there was no need to worry! The pictures turned out beautifully!  and I like the fog effect in the background, especially on the bridge.

Baby M – 1 month!

This is a great example of why I’m really thankful to have a great location for studio sessions. In the studio the lighting, weather and environment can all be altered to meet the need for the shoot.

When this little man’s mom called me and asked about a studio session I was hesitant. I told her that I don’t have a lot of experience photographing babies this young and perhaps another photographer could better serve her.

She said she preferred to book with me so we went ahead.

I’m really glad I had the opportunity to meet this handsome guy! He was content the entire shoot. Mom and Grandma were hands on and even got into a few shots.

Studio Sessions

Mom preferred the wood wall that we had just installed the night before so we used that for most of the backgrounds. Mr. M was just super chill the entire session.

Megan – Professional Head Shots

This woman is special to me! I knew her as a teenager back in my teaching days. I also coached her in Volleyball. She was one of those kids that just anchored themselves into my heart! She even babysat my boys a time or two.

Now she’s an amazing wife and a mother of four sons as well as a professional healthcare worker! It was really fun having Megan to the new studio and photographing her. We had great weather so we explored some new angles outside as well as the inside shots.

Sisters!

I’m not gonna lie. The morning of their studio session was rough on me. I was un-showered and still in my jammies when the plumber showed up at 7:30 am (we knew he was coming that day, just not what time).  He needed to work on the toilet in the master bathroom which meant I couldn’t shower and get ready. An hour later he was still working and the Propane guy showed up (the joys of moving). I, still in my jammies and trying to get some work done while I wait for the plumber to get out of my bathroom, am now on the front porch discussing the propane bill…

Once my bathroom was finally cleared I had 30 min to shower, dress and be ready for these two adorable girls!

Studio Sessions

Thankfully I had prepared the set the night before but I don’t like going into a session feeling frazzled and that’s exactly what was happening.

But I calmed down immediately when they arrived! They were so much fun! I have had the opportunity to photograph big sis a few times but this was my first time with her baby sis. She was all smiles and that just took all the stress and rush of the morning right out of my mind!

Studio Sessions

They definitely turned my frown upside down!
