How many days until Spring? I’m not anti-Winter, in fact I look forward to it. I love seasons, the variety is just appealing to me. Each season presents a build up to a “best case scenario” in my mind. As we look forward to Fall it’s because I am just so done with Summers heat and being Hot! As the leaves begin to change color I anticipate the riot of color and the crisp morning air that will arrive. Then when the leaves have lost their vibrant hues I begin anticipating the snuggly sweaters, warm drinks and the promise of SNOW.
For me snow is magical, it changes everything. It forces us to slow down, help neighbors out of the ditch, figure out how to survive without electricity, build snow men, watch our puppies frolic and if your very lucky your family is trapped together for a day or two of snowball fights, hot cocoa and lots of board games. Snow has meant cancelled school and sometimes gets in the way of other plans but come on its snow! It is rare and beautiful and so much better than 34 and rain!!!!!!
Spring
Now that all hope of snow (in my opinion) has passed us by and we have had way too much of this freezing cold rain garbage I would like to say GOODBYE to Winter and HELLO Spring. Today just completely pushed me over the edge. It was gorgeous!!! I had the opportunity to take a walk with Lucy around WSU. The sun felt amazing and just lifted my spirits!
Back in 2017 I had the opportunity to photograph an event up at the Holland America Flower Gardens in Woodland WA http://hollandamericaflowergardens.com/
I was able to tour their fabulous green houses that were bursting with tulips just about to bloom. I bet they are amazing right now! I hope to find enough time to drive up there tomorrow and pick up my first tulip bouquet of the season!
Brace yourselves Friends
We have to hang on for another month until Spring is officially upon us (March 20th). I heard the weatherman tonight say after todays sun we will have to wait 5 more days until we see it again… (side note, why are they always right about everything but snow?) But in the meantime let’s keep our spirits up with beautiful pictures, fresh bouquets and happy thoughts about what you will do to enjoy the Spring that we know is on our horizon.
I absolutely love this picture of my sweet niece!
Book Recommendation
One of the things I love to do is escape into a good book during the rainy, dark, cold times. I have just finished my second Bob Goff book. His influence on this world is definitely a brightness we can all strive to! The first “Love Does” was so inspiring I immediately bought his second book “Everybody Always”. Thought provoking and challenging! The man washes the feet of witch doctors in Uganda! Seriously! Go read them! I finished “Everybody Always” this morning and plan to reread “Love Does” beginning tomorrow morning!
Thanks for stopping by!
Let’s think sunny thoughts!
