Happy Thursday Friends,
What I’m Doing –
I am back safe and sound from our adventure down South. I am happy to report my back did well and while we could feel the humidity it was great weather! It was AMAZING to see my former students and walk around the GCA campus! Several of these students said some really kind things to me which went straight to my heart. They didn’t know it had been my first year teaching nor did they realize how close in age we all are! So fun to talk about memories from the classroom, faculty families and of course the New England trip!
It had been 8 years since we had last visited Calhoun, needless to say a lot had changed! The GCA campus is simply stunning!
While I loved my time catching up with former students the best part was spending some quality time with our precious friends Darrel and Connie! They took amazing care of us. We felt like we were at a high end resort!
We did lots of eating of course. Toured around Calhoun and Chattanooga reminiscing about the 5 years we lived in the area. We caught up with old friends and laughed almost the entire time! All too quickly what we had been looking forward to became a memory.
The Wisteria along the freeways is insane!!! I wanted to bring it home!!!
What I’m Photographing –
Headshots are popular right now. I am getting several requests a week and I love it. Yesterday I met Kristi while we did her portraits and today Tim will come in. People never feel like super models when they walk in. I hear on a regular basis how much they hate having their picture taken {I feel like a dentist or auto repair person sometimes}. But its OK, I get it. I’m uncomfortable in front of the camera as well. My job is to get you to relax and enjoy the experience. I take my job very seriously and I strive to deliver pictures where you feel confident to share them. If you don’t I will happily do a second session with you free of charge.
I have been able to extend the Spring Bloom sale to a few individuals who are taking advantage of booking in April and saving themselves $100. I also have $100 cards I have been handing out that are good towards any Family or Graduate Session. If you see me ask for one and I will happily share!
Goal Check –
So you will be hearing from me every day until April 21 regarding the Best of Clark County contest. I still am in shock that I made the cut for the top 5. The question in my head is, should I be happy with top 5? Or should I hound everyone who follows me on social media, reads my blog or runs into me on the street to please vote for me? I’m guessing you have picked up on my answer. Thank you friends! It would mean so much to me if you took the time to cast your vote. And remember there are lots of amazing businesses out there that are hustling and trying their best! As a business owner it can be a real challenge out there so any boost we get means everything!!!

Yesterday afternoon I was working in my studio when I received a message that I had also been nominated for The Readers Choice award associated with The Reflector here in BG!! WOW! So now I’m pushing it to ask you guys to vote for me in both of these contests! It’s quick and painless I promise! 😆 Thank you friends! Your support means so much to me! What I’m Reading –
I have been part of a book club for 10ish years. I love it! Last night we met and discussed last months book “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell” which I finished reading on the flight home from Atlanta.
Here’s Why I liked it – It was definitely different than any other book I have read. With a unique story line and subject matter I was really caught up. There are questions of faith that I could really relate to. Also I loved the family and friendship connections.
Here’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars – There were parts I found unbelievable. Maybe my expectations are too high here. It is after all, a novel. But the story is written as if it had truly happen so that is why I think it should all be believable. Sam’s eyes are a unique color that has placed him firmly in the misf_it catagory. However, the book describes him as kind, hard working, intelligent and other than his startling eyes he is attractive. I find it difficult to believe that in his years at the same school with the same teachers and students that non of them learn to accept him.
So overall I give it a 4.5 – kept my interest but didn’t blow me away.
I love book club for a lot of reasons. Of course the amazing friends, stimulating conversation, abundant laughter, yummy food are all highlights. However, finding out what the next book pick is just the icing on the cake! It makes it feel a bit like Christmas morning to me!
Here is this months pick. Have you read it?
