Happy Thursday Friends,
Only it’s Wednesday…
What I’m Doing
Today is packing day! Our flight leaves at 6am. Jeff and I are flying to Atlanta where our amazingly awesome friends Darrel and Connie will pick us up for a long weekend of laughter and happy hearts! Besides spending some quality time with our friends we will also be going to GCA Alumni. Georgia Cumberland Academy is located in Calhoun GA about 45 min north of Atlanta. Jeff and I lived there for 4 years and that is where we lived when Josh was born. GCA is where I began my teaching career.
Now I remember feeling old when I myself had my 25th high school alumni. This is not that. This will be me attending the 25th alumni of my students. Can anyone say old lady????
I am really excited to touch base with my former students and friends as well as seeing the south in full Spring bloom. Spring in Georgia really is breathtaking! I just pray we beat the humidity!!
My {current} favorite thing
Massage Therapists, Chiropractors, PT and muscle relaxers. 2 weeks ago I shoveled red rock. 1 week ago I finished an awesome climbing session and felt a muscle spasms begin in my back which I have been struggling with all week. Last week I didn’t climb, bike, lift weights or anything fun. Happily I’ve kept walking because I have less pain moving than I do sitting still. I haven’t been pain free for more then a week and last night I seemed to have aggravated it all over again. It’s hard to stay positive when you are in constant pain.
Dang it! I have no patience for this! Last week I had a two hour massage that didn’t help. Monday I went to a Chiropractor for the first time in probably 15 years and I have to say I felt improvement. I followed up with PT Tuesday morning, PT this morning and then drove straight to the Chiropractor for my second session. I feel relief and I pray that stupid muscle spasm just calms the heck down already!!!
Prayers for a pain free back for our 5+ hour flight to Atlanta would be greatly appreciated friends!
What I’m Reading
I’m well into “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell” – I have been saving it to be my travel book. Book Club meets two nights after I get back from Georgia. I always like to finish the book club choice right before we meet so its fresh in my mind for discussion. I’m about half way. It’s always challenging to read about kids being bullied and hurt (even if it is fictional). Hopefully he has a happy ending!
I am on the hunt for some more books to add to my “to read shelf” comment below with some of your favorite recent reads.

What I’m Photographing
I had the most amazing time yesterday. I was blessed with the opportunity to do a life style shoot with Kaelyn, Josh and their new precious Maryn. At just over a week old she is just a doll! I loved the setting of this shoot. When the family first contacted me regarding coming to the studio for a newborn shoot I was sad to tell them I don’t really do that. I don’t have the props or the experience to know how to pose baby in the traditional newborn portrait way.
However,I did offer that I would be happy to do a lifestyle shoot in their home if they were up for it and they were! So off I headed to Ridgefield to do a session in the home moma Kaelyn had grown up in and would now begin to raise her family there. With this precious new life surrounded by her beautiful parents and in the home surrounded by history, we had a lovely time with mom, dad, Maryn, pup and two kitties.
I asked when the farmhouse was built and they guessed in the 1930s. Mom brought out the most precious cradle that her grandfather had built for her and her sister to play with and we laid sweet Maryn in it for a few pictures. She was less impressed with the cradle than we were!
Maryn’s parents benefits from the Spring Bloom Sale and you can do. Just book your session by the end of this month to receive $100 your session fee.
Take some time to enjoy all that is blooming outside today friends!
