Field to Vase Dinner Tour – Woodland WA {Event Photographer Portland OR & Vancouver WA}

Last weekend I had the opportunity to be the event photographer for the Field to Vase Dinner Tour at the Holland American Flowers – or as I call it the Tulip Farm in Woodland. When I was asked to be the photographer I had never heard of this event. It is a dinner tour hosted by American Grown Flowers http://www.americangrownflowers.org/fieldtovase/  The dinner tour ” is a series of private, intimate, must-attend gatherings that place seasonal, local and sustainable American Grown flowers at the center of the table where locally grown food, beer, and wine is served by a farm-to-table chef.”  The focus on the tour is to promote American grown flowers and bring awareness that most flowers we buy for our home are imported.  So they have spent the last year touring across the country and having these dinners at local flower farms. Woodland was their last stop for the 2016 season.

Honestly I was a bit worried about what flowers they could come up in November – but I shouldn’t have…

The designer Hillary of Emerald Petals http://emeraldpetals.blogspot.com/ did an amazing job! I love how the center pieces were hung above the tables with tulips draped over the edge and then tulips, bulbs and all, were suspended from the platform. So cool!

The food was lovely (I didn’t get to eat any) and prepared by Chef Michael Borges from Mill Creek Pub in Battle Ground,  http://millcreekpub.com/

A comprehensive article was in the Reflector the is week about the dinner tour and farm – you can read it here     http://www.thereflector.com/news/article_bca268ca-a6b6-11e6-b7f4-e702d4564a07.html

Of course a bonus for me is that I LOVE tulips! How fun to see so many gorgeous tulips in November! The benefits of having greenhouses!

I’m so thankful for my little space {mine} in town. I love working out of an office. I definitely see the benefits of having a presence here in Battle Ground. I am having more people contact me just because they have seen my office or my signs.  I still dream of a large airy space – maybe some day 🙂

Sometimes I’m walking down the street and something just catches my eye. Then I get all giddy about what angle to shoot at and how to capture it perfectly. I was scouting a location in Portland for an upcoming family photo session when I spotted these {orange} bikes parked among the Fall leaves.

My favorite thing about inspiration is how unexpected it is. It can just hit you like a ton of bricks. The trick for me is holding on to it because it often hits when I’m out and about and don’t have any way to write it down etc. But in general I find the colors and textures of the Northwest very {inspirational}.

I loved that the dinner was set up in a room with an abundance of {window light} Such a lovely setting!

Stay positive! There is a lot to be thankful for!
