Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock….

2016 is quickly coming to a close. How do you feel about that? Are you the type that reflects back on the year and asks questions like How did I do? Do you compare years? Do you make new resolutions for next year? Do you pull out the list from last Jan 1 and notice your accomplishments? I have mentioned before I don't do resolutions. I do like to set goals for myself. For example I challenged myself two years ago to daily devotions and I have kept with that. I challenged myself last year to read 30 books this [...]

Sieng Family {Family Photographer – Portland OR & Vancouver WA}

Those of us who have the opportunity to call the PNW home are blessed with beauty all around us! I absolutely love Fall here. And while it has been a wet one!  8-O  I am so thankful that I was able to get every Family Session scheduled shot during our record breaking wet month of October.  I'm also very thankful to the families that were willing to juggle their schedules around the rainy days. The beautiful Sieng Family was one of my families that had to reschedule and then reschedule again in order to get a dry day. They live [...]

Denon Family {Family Photographer Portland OR & Vancouver WA}

I met the Denon family last year. Natalie contacted me after seeing my work displayed at Lava Java in Ridgefield. It was a very exciting moment for me because I didn't know the Denon's and here was a call out of the blue wanting to book a family session. When we did their family session last year it was a hot sunny afternoon with no worries about the weather. This year would be a different story... Guy and Natalie are laid back, easy to talk to and a joy to work with. We had a fun hour in the Pearl [...]

Squires Family {Portland OR & Vancouver WA Family Photographer}

They simply don't come any nicer than the Squires Family! I was thrilled when they asked me to take their family photos. Rumor had it that Dad wasn't that excited about the prospect ;-) - but in the end he was grateful his wife "made" him do it. They are all to aware of how their young men are growing - no longer little boys. And what fine young men they are! Friendly and easy to talk with they are also quick to offer help me carry things, folding blankets, basically always looking for ways to help.  :-D The Squires [...]

Happy Monday?

I woke up this morning with my head swimming with a long list of things to do AND worry about from now until 5am Thursday morning. It is a LONG list. 8-O I'm sure I'm not the only one waking up on the wrong side of the bed today.  :-| First on my list was to help my kid load the last few items and say goodbye to him - again. I'm so thankful for a Grandpa that is available to help Josh move into his new duplex. I will get to do this again tomorrow when Ty heads out. [...]

Senior Julia – Class of 2017 {Senior Photographer Battle Ground WA & Vancouver WA}

It was so fun working with Julia. It is an interesting process photographing people you have just met. It is my job to help them relax and feel their beautiful selves in a matter of minutes. So I can get to work and capture this exciting time in their lives. I met Julia and her mom April only a few minutes before our Senior Session.  I immediately knew this would be a great session. She was friendly, open and confident - a breeze to work with. I appreciated how easily she trusted me and happily posed for the camera. I [...]

Domestic Goddess

Yes I have a housewife buried deep inside of me. A few times a year in certain circumstances and if I feel like it - I let her out of her cage.  ;-) I was inspired to let her out when I had the opportunity to visit some farm stands in Milton Freewater, OR yesterday and left with a trunk full of  fresh picked peaches and corn. Apparently there had been a run on corn and the first stand was out. The second farm stand had enough for me to snag 2 dozen ears - not much but I'm looking [...]

Happy 1 year to me!

That went fast!!! While I have been a full time photographer for almost 3 years I moved into my little space in Old Town Battle Ground a year ago!  At the time I had signed a 6 month lease and thought "why not?!" I'll give it a whirl and if I have to close up at 6 months I will. As I reflect back on the year there were a few times I really came close to closing and moving back home. Those cold dark days of winter can be scarily quiet for a photographer... 8-O Happily I didn't and [...]

Happy August

Thank you for your prayers and support for my Mom this past weekend. She was ordered unexpectedly to the hospital Friday due to her heart taking scary long breaks between beats. Long story short - She is home now! She was blessed with excellent care! We even had extra blessings when our friend Dr. Lamberton walked in the door! He was her Dr. and took excellent care of her. We are so thankful that her new pacemaker will keep her heart humming along now! So hopefully no more of that business! Let's just all stay healthy and happy shall we!  [...]

Take the time…

Time is an illusive thing. It is either moving too slowly or too quickly. Never, in my opinion is it moving at just the exact right speed. We (I) am either anxiously anticipating something that can't get here soon enough or desperately trying to hold on to a moment that is slipping through my fingers... Am I the only one? Participating in Project 365 does two things for me. 1 It forces me to slow down and pay attention to what is around me - forces me to take the time to notice and photograph something each and every day. [...]
